Newborn Photography with RG Photography by Courtney: Capturing Precious Moments
As a Springfield, IL newborn photographer, it’s an honor to capture the joy and love that comes with a newborn session. Recently, I had the privilege of working with the Schultz family and their sweet new addition, Hudson. Their story is a reminder of how quickly time passes, and how important it is to preserve those early moments.
Hudson stole my heart during two special sessions. The first session took place at the family’s home shortly after his birth. His parents were full of love and pride, and you could feel the bond they shared with their son. One of my favorite moments was when I swaddled Hudson and rocked him to sleep, capturing his peaceful moments as he drifted off.
After delivering their gallery, I reached out to see if they’d be interested in another session. I was excited to incorporate wrapped poses into my newborn sessions, and they were thrilled! About a week later, we captured more adorable photos of Hudson. There’s something truly special about a newborn wrapped in soft fabrics, surrounded by simple props that highlight their purity and the preciousness of these early moments.
A fun detail from this session: the cradle Hudson was photographed in was handcrafted by my dad for my daughter’s baby dolls. Now, it’s part of my photography sessions, adding sentimental value to each shoot.
The passage of time is evident when looking at newborn photos. In just six months, Hudson will outgrow these tiny props. In a year, he’ll be on the move, no longer needing these peaceful poses. This is why newborn photography is so important—it captures the essence of a moment that passes so quickly, preserving memories that families will cherish forever.
Hudson’s session included close-up shots of his tiny features—his soft hair, delicate eyelashes, and little toes. I also captured the love and joy of his parents as they soaked in their first days with him. These moments of connection and tenderness are what make newborn photography so special.
