Let me start by saying that each session is special in its own way, for its own reason.
I love senior photography because I get to see all the things that make each senior uniquely themselves. I love family sessions because the love they share is undeniable, and capturing the authentic joy they bring to each other is such a gift. I love milestone sessions because those sweet little ones grow so fast—and they’re just so stinking sweet.
But where my heart for photography truly began was with my own little one. Becoming a mom is what led me to newborn photography and everything that surrounds it—maternity, Fresh 48s, lifestyle newborn, and milestones. This is my passion. This is what pulled me into this business and continues to inspire me every single day.

Rygh Family | Williamsville, IL Maternity Session
A couple of months ago, I was reminded once again of the heart behind why I do what I do. Jim reached out to me with the sweetest idea—he wanted to gift his wife, Katie, a maternity session for their anniversary. I’ve always believed photo sessions make the most meaningful gifts, because the memories captured are cherished for years to come.
We chose Williamsville Lake in Williamsville, IL for their session, just before golden hour. The lighting was perfect, and the entire evening felt relaxed and full of joy. Katie and Jim even brought along their two adorable pups, each proudly wearing “Big Brother” and “Big Sister” bandanas. The attention Katie gave to every little detail made the session feel so personal and intentional, and the gallery reflects that beautifully.
We started by capturing just the two of them, celebrating not only this new chapter of parenthood but also their one-year wedding anniversary. When their dogs joined us, they added the perfect extra touch of personality and fun. We made sure to get a mix of individual shots of the pups, along with some sweet full family photos. Just wait until you see them below. After we wrapped up with their pups, we moved locations slightly and caught the glow of the sun peeking through the tall grass.
Jim and Katie are expecting their little “rookie” at the end of October, and I truly cannot wait to see them step into their new roles as parents. It’s going to be such a beautiful journey.
