A Christmas Reflection on Family, Faith, and the Little Moments That Matter
This is the week. As Christmas quickly approaches, I wanted to take a moment to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas. In the midst of full calendars, crowded stores, and endless to-do lists, my prayer for you is simple: that you find time to pause and soak in the little moments happening all around you.
Sometimes those moments look like shopping for the people we love, even when the store is packed. Other times, they look like extending grace to someone who is stressed, overwhelmed, or simply having a hard day. These small acts of patience and kindness often mean more than we realize, especially during the Christmas season.
Cherishing Family Traditions and Creating New Ones
Christmas is such a special time to slow down and enjoy your family’s traditions, and maybe even create a new one. As our family has grown and we’ve become a family of four outside of our extended family, we’ve truly loved establishing traditions of our own. Watching our kids grow up with these moments and seeing how much they look forward to them each year has been incredibly meaningful.
There is something so special about seeing Christmas through the eyes of little ones. The excitement, the wonder, and the joy they carry remind us what this season is really about. These are the moments that become memories, the ones we hold onto long after the decorations are put away.
Taking Time to Reflect on the True Meaning of Christmas
As we celebrate, I also pray that your family takes time to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. Whether this story is familiar to you or something you haven’t spent much time thinking about, I encourage you to pause for just a few minutes and reflect.
The God of the universe knows everything about you. Every strand of hair on your head, every thought, every mistake, and every hope you carry. And yet, He loves you so deeply that He desires a relationship with you for eternity. That love is the reason He sent His Son to this world as a baby.
Jesus came to show us what true love looks like. He came to remind us that we matter, that we are seen, and that we are deeply loved. There is no greater love than this. A baby was born thousands of years ago, ultimately for you and for me. This Christmas season, no matter where you find yourself in your faith, I pray you give yourself the space to learn a little more about Him.
An Invitation This Christmas Eve
If you’re looking for a place to reflect and worship this Christmas, I encourage you to attend a Christmas Eve service. Our family attends Real Life Church in Springfield, Illinois, which offers two services on Christmas Eve. You are more than welcome to sit with us.
Take time to pray and thank God for Jesus, no matter how long it has been since you last prayed. Open the Bible and spend time in what is truly the greatest love story ever told.
From my family to yours, I pray your Christmas is filled with peace, grace, meaningful moments, and the reminder that you are deeply loved.
