As a newborn and family photographer, I love sharing special moments that happen in front of my camera, but I also enjoy sharing glimpses of who I am behind the lens! With Easter approaching, I thought it would be the perfect time to share some of my family's cherished Easter traditions.
My husband and I are blessed with two wonderful children, Ryleigh and Garrett, whose initials inspired the name of my business (RG). Easter is a holiday they absolutely adore! In the weeks leading up to Easter, we make it a point to visit local egg hunts and events around Central Illinois. These outings are a great way to enjoy the fresh spring air, create lasting memories, and connect with other families. Sometimes, we even bring along extended family or friends to make the experience even more special.
One of our most treasured traditions is setting aside time during Easter weekend for just the four of us. Depending on our schedule, this may happen on the evening of Easter or the day before. This is when we hold our own Easter egg hunt at home and surprise the kids with their Easter baskets. We fill the eggs with fun goodies like stickers, candy, and money, but my favorite addition is experience-based bunny tokens! When Ryleigh was younger, I wanted something unique that would last beyond the holiday, and I came across these adorable tokens with experiences like "Movie Night," "Get Ice Cream," and "Go to the Park." They have since become a beloved tradition in our home, and I highly recommend them!
On Easter Sunday, we begin the day by attending church to celebrate the true meaning of Easter. While we enjoy the festive activities, teaching our children about the significance of Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection is our top priority. Easter is a time to reflect on His love and grace, and we cherish gathering with our church family to worship and give thanks. If you’re looking for a welcoming church in the Springfield, IL, area, we love attending Real Life Church at 2701 Hermitage Rd!
Following the church service, we spend the rest of the day with both sides of our family, enjoying delicious meals, quality time, and another egg hunt—our kids are practically professional egg hunters! The day is always a beautiful reminder of how blessed we are, filling our hearts with gratitude for the big and small joys that Christ has given us.
